THE AROMA OF LIFE VS THE STENCH OF DEATH

Let’s talk about smells today. I want to help you distinguish between the aroma of life and the stench of death in our world!

Sometimes, we don’t know we stink, because we have gotten used to it (maybe we have body odor or bad breath) but everybody around us knows it! It is the same in our spiritual life, there are certain aromas and signs of where you are in your walk with God, and you may not be aware of them. But others notice.

Just a look at our society today is sufficient to see that there is sin and death all around us. You can see it in people’s eyes, in their personality, in their fear or their arrogance.

Look at the political world: no one there seems to be capable of saying the truth! Most of the politicians, who are considered by some as the cream of the top, are in fact the bottom of the barrel! Most of them lie and are incredibly immoral, and they take your money for ungodly uses.

If you look at the entertainment world, it stinks to high levels, it is a stench of immorality beyond that which we have ever seen before, and we even pay to have them stink up our homes with their filth!

The morality in the world over the last several years is getting worse and worse. People’s lives have become twisted, and they don’t even know it! But if you are walking in the aroma of God, you can sense the stench of death.

Just to name a few of these immoralities (there are sadly many others), laws have been passed to cover up crimes and to give mothers the right to kill alive babies in their womb! And has anyone ever dreamt of what is happening to our children today, from kindergarten on up, and what they are being exposed to? Some people are fighting for the right to influence their minds with sexual perversion and sin, to have drag queens read them stories at school! What kind of insanity is this? Not only that, but they also want to give them drugs and change their natural makeup, do surgery on them, and mutilate them, and chop some organs off! What is going on in people’s minds? Some believers even agree with this and try to make us believe that God is ok with such horrors! What happened to their sense of spiritual smell? Do they not recognize that this is the stench of death?

We are living in a society that is twisted, perverted, and contaminated! Light and darkness are being reversed, and they are trying to legalize and make immorality moral.

Isaiah 5.20 warns us:  Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            I am also reminded of Jesus’ words:  It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.

The apostle Paul warned us as well in Romans 12.2: And do not be conformed to this world…  Why not? Because it stinks!

Sad to say, a lot of believers lack conviction and are intimidated into agreeing and acting like the world in order to be accepted, but we should be different! There should be something within us of the excellence of God, His integrity, His love and His purpose!  Where is the evidence of your faith in God and your relationship with Him?

When people smell you, are they smelling the love, the life, and the joy of the Lord, or are they smelling death and fear, immorality or perversion? Are you carrying the aroma of life, or the stench of death?

We are probably living during the darkest time in history, and it keeps getting darker. Don’t try to be accepted by the world, walk with God, and smell good!
